The Case of Esophageal Foreign Body With Esophageal Perforation and Paraesophageal Abcess
À±ÇýÁø/Hye Jin Yoon
Abstract
The main point in managing suspected impaction of esophageal foreign bodies is to decide whether the patient
needs an esophageal endoscopy. Esophageal perforation caused by foreign body is caused by pressure necrosis
with progressive breakdown of the esophageal wall and migration of the object into the pleural cavity or even
into the major vessel. We experienced a case of esophageal foreign body which penetrated the cervical
esophagu and formed periesophageal abscess. It was successfully removed endospically and complication was
treated with conservative management.
